I Love St. Charles
I have been fortunate to play a lot of golf in ’24. From my Florida trip in February, several rounds at country clubs, dozens of rounds at local public courses, to the most recent round at the amazing Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton. But of all those amazing golf courses I’ve played, none have been in as beautiful of a condition as Pottawatomie Golf in Downtown St Charles.
Every Wednesday or Thursday morning this summer, me and a few other dads have had a 6:30 am tee time. What a great way to start the day. A nice three mile walk on a perfectly kept golf course along the river. I don’t know why but I seem to play my best golf on these early morning walks. My best guess is that I am focusing less on the golf and more on just appreciating my surroundings and my friends. It’s easy to take it all to seriously. Sometimes it’s best to just take a step back a look around and enjoy it all. Pottawatomie makes that easy to do. Growing up in STC, I can’t tell you how many times i’ve played this course. It wasn’t until recently that I really appreciated how great it is.
There are so many reason why I love this town and why I am so proud of this community. And this is just one of them. We are very lucky to have such a gem on the banks of the mighty Fox River.
As my grandfather would say,
Hit ’em long and straight
